About Engineering Drawing Basics
Engineering drawings (aka “prints”) are critical documents used to communicate between design, manufacturing and quality. Not being able to properly read a drawing can easily lead to costly consequences. This foundational course provides education for creating and interpreting engineering drawings.
These skills are essential for anyone involved in design, manufacturing or quality. If you have any interaction with engineering drawings, this course is for you!
This self-paced, online course contains detailed information alongside graphical illustrations and animations to help the concepts sink in. Multiple quizzes throughout the course also help to ensure the information is being understood. This training course is based on the ASME Y14 drawing standards (such as ASME Y14.100 and Y14.5).
Course includes a certificate of completion which is issued after fully completing all lessons and quizzes.
*Multiple student discounts available. This course is also available as SCORM compliant training for your company's LMS. Contact us to find out more ([email protected]).
Optional Textbook and Training Part
Increase the effectiveness of the training by adding the course textbook and training part. The textbook helps with learning and is a useful reference to have on hand. The training part is especially helpful in learning orthographic projection.

I am leaving this training feeling so confident that I have offered to help walk others through reading their drawings. His teaching is clear, concise, and linear. It builds upon itself slowly so that knowledge is easy absorbed. He uses easy to understand examples and speaks in a way that gets the point across. I recommend anyone who is involved with engineering drawings should take this course!

I thought the overall content to be straightforward and helpful to my understanding of Tolerances and their uses. I've never had any training in this area and appreciate the opportunity to learn more here in this course.

Datumx's approach to blueprint reading gave me confidence in interpreting technical drawings. What stood out to me was the coverage of dimensioning principles. The dimensioning section was particularly valuable. I understand not only how to read dimensions better, but I also have a good understanding.
