About Engineering Drawing Basics

Engineering drawings (aka “prints”) are critical documents used to communicate between design, manufacturing and quality.  Not being able to properly read a drawing can easily lead to costly consequences.  This foundational course provides education for creating and interpreting engineering drawings.

These skills are essential for anyone involved in design, manufacturing or quality.  If you have any interaction with engineering drawings, this course is for you!

This self-paced, online course contains detailed information alongside graphical illustrations and animations to help the concepts sink in.  Multiple quizzes throughout the course also help to ensure the information is being understood.  This training course is based on the ASME Y14 drawing standards (such as ASME Y14.100 and Y14.5).

Course includes a certificate of completion which is issued after fully completing all lessons and quizzes.

*This course is also available as SCORM compliant training for your company's LMS.  Contact us to find out more ([email protected]).

Optional Textbook and Training Part

Increase the effectiveness of the training by adding a textbook and training part.  The textbook helps with learning and is a useful reference to have on hand.  The training part is especially helpful in learning orthographic projection.

I enjoyed taking this course and I feel that I learned a lot. I have been exposed to prints before and have done my best to use common sense to interpret them, however this course helped fill in the gaps of areas that I wasn't sure about. Overall, I thought the course was pretty simple, which is perfect for a "Basics" course.

I thought the overall content to be straightforward and helpful to my understanding of Tolerances and their uses. I've never had any training in this area and appreciate the opportunity to learn more here in this course.

As someone new to mechanical drawing and CMM operations, this course provided exactly the foundation I was looking for. Datumx's approach to blueprint reading gave me confidence in interpreting technical drawings. What stood out to me was the coverage of dimensioning principles. The dimensioning section was particularly valuable. I understand not only how to read dimensions better, but I also have a good understanding.
